| Do you remember how Gundar says "We're going to the park!" |

| Blanca as Gundar Gunawan: Kami akan pergi ke taman! |
| Michael: Here, Gundar is speaking to his mother, informing her that he is going to the park with his friends. He uses the pronoun |
| Blanca: kami |
| Michael: to refer to him and his friends. Taking this into consideration, we can see that this pronoun functions like the English "we," which is used by a speaker to refer to them and another person or group of people that does not include the listener. In this case, the listener is Gundar's mother. |

| Michael: Now, let's take a look at our second sentence. |
| Do you remember how Gundar's mother says "Be back before dinner, we eat at seven today?" |

| Michael: "Anne, we'll go to the library for a while." In this example, the speaker makes use of the pronoun |

| Michael: indicating that they're going to the library but not including Anne. Let's take a look at another example: |

| Michael: "We are studying together." In English, there would be confusion about whether the listener is included in the activity or not, but, in Indonesian, that confusion is eliminated with the use of the pronoun |

| Michael: indicating the listener is not included. Let's move on to our next example: |
| Blanca: Anne, kita akan pergi ke perpustakaan sebentar lagi. |
| Michael: "Anne, we will go to the library in a while." Again, the English translation may sound confusing since we don't know whether the speaker is inviting Anne to the library or is stating that they are going without Anne. In Indonesian, the pronoun |
