Eric: Welcome to 3-Minute Indonesian Season 1, Lesson 16 - Asking Directions. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask and understand basic directions in Indonesian.

Eric: Here's how to ask “Where is the station?” in Indonesian.
Fira: [Normal] Stasiun letaknya di mana?
Eric: First is a word meaning “station.”
Fira: [Normal] stasiun [Slow] stasiun
Eric: Next is the word meaning “the location.”
Fira: [Normal] letaknya [Slow] letaknya
Eric: Next is the word meaning “at, in, on.”
Fira: [Normal] di [Slow] di
Eric: Last is the word meaning “where, which.”
Fira: [Normal] mana [Slow] mana
Eric: Note the rising intonation. Listen again to the question meaning “Where is the station?”

Fira: These sentences are the key to asking for directions in Indonesian. Indonesian people use hand gestures a lot too, so don't be surprised if they start to point at directions while they are explaining the route. They might gesture pretty fast, so you should try to listen to what they’re saying as well.
